With the onset of some truly disgusting tactics in your little mailers, the attempt to scare voters into compliance and misdirection... I have lost all respect for you. I was never fond of your policies or approach to the White House, but I at least admired you and respected you for what you have done for this country. You have completely negated those positive feelings with the vicious and relentless negativity and BLATANT LIES you and your campaign are spreading. And it's not a matter of the RNC doing this nasty business and you being none the wiser--you are endorsing these tactics, scaring the American people into support (strangely similar to the propaganda of the Third Reich) rather than discussing the issues with them fairly, giving them the opportunity to make their own decision without fear, and for that you have become a monster in my eyes. I received a mailer today that had "TERRORISTS" on the front cover, with a picture of Barack Obama inside saying "Not who you think he is." Really terrible graphic design aside, it's complete crap, and the fact that you are perpetuating these lies to aid your own campaign merely alludes to the lies and total lack of transparency we would experience in a McCain White House. How dare you and the RNC send this trash to my house. You've inspired me not only to donate to Barack Obama's cause, I plan on doing everything I can to reverse whatever needless hate you have caused in my community. We didn't like Clinton lying (at least he left us with a surplus), we didn't like Bush lying (record deficit, nothing to show for it), and I certainly don't want the next four years of my life to be deceit and lies in the same vein. Many of your supporters lately have been a shining example of the latent racism and hate alive and well in this country, particularly at your rallies. And yet you relentlessly continue with the wrong decisions--reminds one very much of President Bush. Decide whether or not you want to be the next George W. Bush (you have stated this is not the case, but your actions show otherwise), and unite this country under hate and fear, or if you want to start doing right by this country the way you did so many years ago as a POW. America should strive to be the best part of ourselves, and congratulations--you've set us back about thirty years. And as soon as a man like Colin Powell, a man to be respected and with some decent criticism to offer, endorses the other campaign, you laugh it off without batting an eye. I would hope a president would be more self-aware, more self-critical, and allow himself to reexamine his tactics and policies in light of things that ARE NOT WORKING. I wish you were more the man you claim to be.
